QBIC Hackathon is designed to invite Qatar’s brightest thinkers, innovative entrepreneurs, and aspiring professionals to share their creative ideas and cutting-edge solutions for a wide range of today’s pressing challenges across 4 industry-specific themes.

THEME ONE

Digital Transformation

This challenge invites innovators, who believe that the future is fully “digital”, to generate novel ideas while utilizing digital design and smart programming.

Sub-themes:

  • Digital Transformation: To transform operations and consumer experiences

SportsTech

It is an opportunity to solve key challenges for athletes, coaches, sports companies, and fans to create the future of sports technology.

Digital Solutions Beyond the 2022 Legacy

It is an opportunity to look beyond the FIFA World Cup 2022 and how we can enable new experiences through Ooredoo’s existing and future products and services.

What is the QBIC Hackathon?

QBIC Hackathon is designed to invite Qatar’s brightest thinkers, innovative entrepreneurs, and aspiring professionals to share their creative ideas and cutting-edge solutions for a wide range of today’s pressing challenges across 4 industry-specific themes. The QBIC Hackathon will provide an ideal environment for creating and refining ideas through collaboration, ideation, prototyping, testing, and presentation.

You can apply for the hackathon by clicking on the “Apply Now” button.

Anyone with an innovative idea that is relevant to the themes of the hackathon is welcomed to participate.

We prefer that, but don’t worry if you don’t have all the answers; the hackathon will kick off with an ideation phase, which should help you refine your idea.

Yes, you need to be based in Qatar to participate in the hackathon.

Yes, you can apply for the hackathon as an individual or as a team. You will have an opportunity to find other team members in the hackathon.

Yes, you can apply for the hackathon as an individual or as a team. Make sure to add the details of your team members in the application form.

Each day will have a specific agenda with action items and workshops. It’s really up to you (and your team) to decide on the number of hours you want to invest in developing your idea. Just remember that ambitious entrepreneurs rarely worry about sleep.

There will be business and technical experts from the industry.

Other than finding fellow brilliant minds with complementary skills to team up with, there is nothing that you need to prepare for in advance.

You will need your laptop to participate in the hackathon. We expect you to download SLACK for collaboration throughout the event.

The hackathon will be delivered in English. However, you will have access to both English and Arabic speaking coaches for additional support.

Terms & Conditions

  • Winning teams shall be awarded the hackathon prize as a milestone-based grant. Winning teams shall prepare and sign a milestone plan for the utilization of the grant prize with an advisor/coach appointed by Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC).
  • Winning teams may only use the grant prize for product development, marketing, and legal expenses. QBIC shall have the right to revoke the prize in case of misuse of funds and/or violation of QBIC’s terms and conditions.
  • The participants shall act in good faith and shall not infringe any existing Intellectual Property Rights that are owned by any third party. Should this event occur, QBIC shall not be liable for any actions by participants who caused such infringement.
  • Intellectual Property developed by the participants belongs to the participants and the grant prize does not entitle QBIC to any intellectual property rights of the winning teams.
